Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of characters who will separate from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the actions of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team understands precisely where to head next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the secret base, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the group reach areas they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to head to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to form the Seekers and Strategists tables.
