Close to 25,000 Lost Electricity in Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Severe Weather Systems
Around 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast woke up lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems impacted the area, bringing powerful gusts reaching over 100 km/h.
Large Hailstones and Extensive Impact
Homeowners witnessed large ice chunks as large as 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been affected by large hailstones.

Utility workers were attempting to repair power throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams working to address the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victorian Weather Woes
Simultaneously, nearly 1,000 residents in Victoria also encountered power outages after the metropolitan area experienced its wettest day in a year and a half.
Rescue organizations responded to nearly 600 calls for help across the region, mainly for building damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

At one point on Sunday, in excess of 28k power users in Victoria were experiencing outages.

Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along significant areas of eastern Queensland this week as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coast.
Tomorrow was predicted as the most rainy day, with continued severe weather risk predicted across different parts of both areas.
